SITUATION VACANT

The High Commission of Malaysia in Canberra is seeking an individual for the following position to be filled up within the rank of its Locally Recruited Staff:

SECURITY OFFICER

The candidate should possess at least a High School Certificate and should be computer literate to handle daily up-keeping of electronic records as part of his job.

Those with background in self-defence will be given preference.

Among the job specifications are as follows:-

·        To be responsible for security aspects of the Chancery premise of the Malaysia High Commission and the Official Residence of His Excellency the High Commissioner and handle unauthorised entry into the premise/compound accordingly.

 

·        To maintain a security log book and record the condition of infrastructure and situation of surrounding at the chancery daily.

 

·        To monitor incoming visitors at CCTV panel during office hour

 

·        To liaise with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in all matters of physical security of the High Commission.

 

·        To supervise the security and functioning of utilities in the Chancery including electrical switchboard, communication switchboard, security/gate system, cooling towers and water installations and to report to the Administration Officer of any default accordingly.

SCHEDULE OF DUTIES OF SECURITY OFFICER

FOR THE HIGH COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA, CANBERRA

At the Chancery ; 7 Perth Avenue, Yarralumla.

1.     To open the Chancery at 8.30 a.m. and secure all doors and windows after 5.00 p.m. daily.

2.     To maintain a security log book and record the condition of infrastructure and situation of surrounding at the chancery daily.

3.     To monitor incoming visitors at CCTV panel during office hour and handle unauthorised entry into the Chancery compound accordingly.

4.     To supervise and accompany tradesmen and technicians for the respective authorised work at the Chancery accordingly;

5.     To be responsible for security aspects during official functions in terms of overall setting, invitees/attendance and other relevant details throughout.

6.     To liaise with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in all matters of physical security of the High Commission.

7.     To escort and when necessary, conduct the delivery and deposition of daily banking, letters and documents to banks, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australian Post and other security related destinations.

8.     To supervise the security and functioning of utilities in the Chancery including electrical switchboard, communication switchboard, security/gate system, cooling towers and water installations and to report to the Administration Officer of any default accordingly.

9.     To assist the weekly Duty Officer in the physical security aspect when alerted by the Duty Officer.

10.  To carry out instructions issued by the High Commissioner/Head of Chancery/Administration Officer and other senior officers of the High Commission when the need arise.

At the Official Residence; No. 5 Somers Crescent, Forrest ACT 2603

1.   To handle unauthorised entry into the Official Residence compound accordingly with the relevant officers at the High Commission and the AFP.

2.   To supervise and accompany tradesmen and technicians for the respective authorised work at the Official Residence accordingly;

3.  To supervise the security and functioning of utilities at the Official Residence including electrical switchboard, communication switches, security/gate system, cooling towers and water installations and to report to the Administration Officer of any default accordingly.
